These two got the airbrush pass last night, now all they need is a another quick value/detail pass and they are ready for color.
The rescue one started to get airbrushed, but I was losing detail, so I guess isn't quite ready for that just yet...

Something to work on while I wait. I got my Comic Con Pro Mailer this week, and they have this big book that they give away every year, which is full of fan and pro art. King Kong is one of the themes for this year, so I'm thinking about sending something in. Not too focused on it, but I need to fiddle with something...
Today the compressor is unboxed, so I should be able to do that a/b pass on the keyframes tonight!

So here's the final battle scene, it needs an airbrush pass, and then another quick value pass to tighten things up before it goes to color. Since my compressor is still buried, I'll get the Rescue scene up to this level next.
The layout for the Shipwreck scene is also laid out, so that will also get started before any color shows up on these...

I changed with the background, and added some graphics...I think this one's officially done. Made it more like a character sheet. I also cut down the 'bullet chain' to show the whole door behind the gun, seemed to tighten up the gun arm a little more.

Where the hell has Ken been!?!
My office is covered in drop cloths and plastic sheets; mold removal from a roof leak in full swing! I've been able to get extra work in here and there, but it's been hard enough just to get to my $ projects, that's why the posts haven't been so much in the last couple of weeks.
Anyways, here's where the first two key frames are, mostly penciled in, and just now starting the second 'value' passes, to start pushing/pulling elements in the compositions. My airbrush compressor is packed away somewhere, so I'll probably be started on the third frame before these two get the final a/b pass.
It's a pain...

Here's the beginning of the Rescue key frame, just laying in the elements with some light markers and #2 pencil. I'm moving kind of quick on this, and then doing the tightening up when I do the value pass after the whole thing is drawn in.
These will be in a widescreen format, in real life the measurements are 16.5x7 inches.

I decided to do an under-grip kind of thing for the gun. So, it's just about done; I want to add some scuff marks, and tighten up the lighting a little bit, also add some effects and highlights. Then I'll put some Transformer-y metal background and framing to complete the piece.

So here's all the armor blocked in, and all the black backing frame has been given form with color. So...still that gun arm lingers, that is my next mission, finish that off, and then the pieces will all be in place. The next and final step will be just highlights and textures.
He should be done this week!

Here's the progress on the cleanup, the whole top torso (except the neck) and current non-gun arm are done, moving on to the lower torso.
I added temp glow to the eyes, though technically that's a final lighting pass, (which is why there's no blue highlights around the face) but hey, why not?
